Postcards from Lago di Como
Estive em Como 4 dias e o objetivo era visitar um novo sítio no lago todos os dias. Todas as cidades são super pequenas por isso um dia é mais do que suficiente para ver tudo. No primeiro dia, visitámos Como. Segundo dia, Bellagio. Terceiro dia, Varenna. No quarto dia, estávamos demasiado cansados de fazer fila ao sol durante horas para comprar os bilhetes de barco e estar restringidos pelos horários limitados – eu disse : os transportes não prestam – por isso fizemos Brunate de manhã (acessível através de um funicular em Como) e alugámos um barco para nós à tarde.
I stayed in Como for 4 days and the goal was to visit a new place around the lake everyday. Every town is super small so a day is more than enough to see everything. First day, we visited Como. Second day, Bellagio. Third day, Varena. Fourth day, we were just too tired of queueing for hours under the sun for the boat tickets and be restrained by the very limited boat schedules – I told you : transportation sucks – so we did Brunate in the morning (accessible by funicolare from Como) and we rented our own boat in the afternoon.
Como
Como é a maior cidade do lago. É mais cosmopolita e menos pitoresca que as restantes. A catedral é um dos must-sees – histórica e mesmo no coração da cidade. Alessandro Volta nasceu em Como por isso muitas das atrações turísticas estão relacionadas com ele – como o Tempio Voltiano e a escultura Life Electric. Além disso, tem algumas praças super simpáticas, cheias de vida e perfeitas para um aperitivo / jantar fora – Piazza Volta, Piazza Mazzini, Piazza San Fedele.
Como is the biggest town around the lake. It is more cosmopolitan and less picturesque than the rest. The cathedral is one of the must-sees – historic and right at the heart of the town. Alessandro Volta was born in Como so a lot of turistic things have to do with him – like the Tempio Voltiano and the Life Electric sculpture. Also, it has some nice squares, full of life and perfect for an appetizer / dinner out – Piazza Volta, Piazza Mazzini, Piazza San Fedele.
Bellagio
Bellagio é considerada a pérola do lago de Como pelas suas ruas super fotogénicas. O passeio à beira do lago é lindo e tem uma vista incrível sob o lago. Mas um dos meus lugares favoritos foi a Village of Pescallo. É preciso andar um pouco a partir do centro mas tem muito menos gente e é igualmente lindo. Quando cheguei, sentei-me numa praia perto de uma senhora italiana. Ela só falava italiano e, bem, eu estou limitada a 5 palavras. Mas ela queria conversas na mesma – elogiou-me a mim, à minha câmara, às minhas fotografias… Tudo era lindo para ela! Sorriu para mim o tempo todo. Uma das minhas memórias favoritas desta viagem – por favor protejam esta senhora a todo o custo.
Bellagio is considered the pearl of lake Como for its photogenic streets. The waterfront promenade is beautiful as it gives you such an amazing view of the lake. But one of my favorite places was the Village of Pescallo. You need to walk a bit from the center but it is way less crowded and just as beautiful. When I arrived there, I sat on a beach next to an old italian lady. She only spoke italian and, well, I am limited to 5 words. But she still wanted to speak with me – she complimented me, my camera, my pictures… Everthing was so pretty for her! She kept smiling at me. One of my favorite memories from this trip – please protect this lady at all costs.
Varenna
Ainda assim, de todas as cidades, penso que Varenna é a mais bonita. Não ficámos muito tempo mas foi o suficiente para me apaixonar. Todas as casas coloridas, o passeio dos namorados, o almoço em frente ao lago… woah! Tudo parece saído de um conto de fadas.
Still, from all of them, I think Varenna was the prettiest. We did not stay for long but it was enough to make me fall in love with it. All the colorful houses, the lovers walk, the lunch by the lake… woah! It all just looks straight out of a fairytale.
