Blogmas #8: 10 facts about Lucy

 

Como assim só passado 3 anos é que decidi fazer um post sobre a verdadeira estrela deste blog? Sim, porque o primeiro pedido de parceria que recebi foi para esta menina, ahah. Hoje conto-vos 10 factos sobre o meu amorzinho no que será, muito provavelmente, o post que eu mais gostei de escrever de sempre!

 

How come only after 3 years I decided to make a post about the real star of this blog? Yes, because the first collaboration request I received was for this girl, ahah. Today I’ll tell you 10 facts about my little love in what will be, probably, the post I most enjoyed written of all!

 

 

1. Foi abandonada. Encontrámo-la na rua no início de Julho de 2008 com dois irmãos dentro de uma caixa de cartão. Roubou-nos o coração de imediato. Até à minha mãe que sempre disse que não queria voltar a ter um cão!

1. She was abandoned. We found her in the beginning of July 2008 with two brothers inside a carboard box. She stole our hearts immediatly. Even my mom’s that always said she didn’t want to have another dog!

 

2. Tem 10 anos. Podiam ter feito os cálculos pela data que tinha acima. Mas isto para dizer que não sabemos ao certo o dia em que nasceu, sabemos apenas que foi no início de Junho e por isso celebramos o aniversário no mesmo dia do meu pai (2 de Junho). Cantamos os parabéns e tudo!

2. She’s 10 years old. You could have made the math from the date above. But all this to say that we don’t know the exact date she was born, all we know is that it ws in the beggining of June so we celebrate it in my father’s anniversary (2nd of June). We even sing Happy Birthday!

 

3. Porquê Lucy? Quando a minha mãe concordou ficar com ela começámos logo a pensar em nomes. Eu tinha visto um filme no dia anterior em que a personagem principal se chamava Lucy e por isso sugeri esse nome. A minha irmã começou a cantar a “Lucy in the sky with dimonds” dos Beatles e pegou, ahah! Só este ano descobri que essa música era sobre LSD… 

3. Why Lucy? After my mom agreed to stay with her we started thinking about names. I saw a movie the day before where the main character was names Lucy so I suggested that name. My sister started singing “Lucy in the Sky with Dimonds” from  Beatles and it stuck, ahah! Only this year I found out this song was about LSD…

 

4. Comida favorita. Comida de frango com cenoura!

4. Favorite food. Chicken with carrot!

 

5. Brinquedo Favorito. Até há pouco tempo eram os sapatinhos comestíveis. Agora é uma bola saltitona que ela nos traz sempre que chegamos a casa. Há meses que anda louca com aquilo!

5. Favorite toy. Until recently it was a chewable shoe. Now it’s a boucing ball that she always brings us when we get home. She’s crazy with it for months now!

 

 

6. Odeia chuva. Ir à rua quando está a chover é um martírio! E nos dias de chuva intensa começa a tremer com o rabo entre as pernas a pedir colo. Já para não falar da trovoada…

6. She hates rain. Going outside with it’s raining is a torture! When the rain is strong she starts shaking with her tail in the middle of her legs asking to come to my lap. And don’t even get me started on lightning…

 

7. O único “truque” que sabe é sentar e virar-se ao contrário quando se conta até 3. Não faço ideia como é que ela começou a fazer o segundo mas se contarmos até 3 com a entoação certa ela sabe que isso significa festinhas ahah.

7. The only “trick” she know is sitting and turn around in the count of 3. I have no ideia how she started doing the second one but if you count until 3 with the right tone she knows that means cuddle.

 

8. Miss Independente. Só faz aquilo que quer e quando quer. Receber ordens não é para ela….

8. Miss Independent. She only does what she wants and when she wants to do it. Receiving orders is not for her…

 

9. Ressona muito. E quando digo muito quero dizer MUITO. E alto.

9. She snores a lot. And when I say a lot I mean A LOT. And loud.

 

10. É esterilizada. A única operação que ela fez até hoje foi a remoção dos ovários. Nós não queríamos que ela tivesse bebés e além disso ouvimos dizer que era uma operação benéfica para a saúde das cadelas em geral. Notámos que ela engordou um bocadinho mas além disso, não há razão de queixa. Ainda no departamento da saúde, já passámos muitas vergonhas. Aqui ficam umas quantas razões: Começou a coxear do nada e lá fomos nós aflitas para o veterinário, era pastilha colada na pata; sentimos uma bola estranha na barriga, corremos para o veterinário, era o umbigo. É melhor nem continuar a lista… ahah.

10. She’s spayed. The only operation she did until today was removing her ovaries. We didn’t want her to have babies and besides that we heard this operation had benefits for female dogs in general. We noticed she gained a little weight but besides that, we have no reason to complain. Still in the health department, we passed a lot of embarrasment. Here are a few reasons why: She started limping out of nowhere so we went straight to the vet, it was gum stuck in her paw; we felt a weird ball in her stomach, run to the vet, it was her bellybutton. Better not continue this list… ahah.
